Week 4 EOC There's an app for that

If I was to create an app, or three, the first thing I would create is an app that, by voice command or clap-on clap-off type action, turns on and off the mute button on my remote control. If it’s one thing I am sick of its locating the remote – one of three – and then locating the mute button whenever a commercial comes on. I would pay big bucks for just such an app.

The other thing I would want an app for is to alert me of an app that people want to buy but is not available. Better yet, an app that comes up with a list of thing people want to buy is not available.

Another app I would like to see is an app that tells me where the police officers are along the rout I'm taking. Much like a radar detector but more of a cop detector.

I would like an app that would tell you the locations of all of your friends at the tip of your fingers.

Week 3 EOC: My demographics

I land in the "Baby-Boomer"demographic, though just by a year or so. I have always associated my self with the X-generation though. The Baby Boomers. The post–World War II baby boom produced 78 million baby boomers, born between 1946 and 1964. Marketing: An Introduction, Armstrong/Koler, p. 71). The X generation is "the 45 million people born between 1965 and 1976 in the “birth dearth” following the baby boom." Marketing: An Introduction. Armstrong/Koler, p. 72. my parents were divorced and I was a latchkey child and I cherish experience, and I was more skepticle as a kid. "Demographics, is the study of human populations in terms of size, density, location, age, gender, race, occupation, and other statistics. The demographic environment is of major interest to marketers because it involves people, and people make up markets" . Marketing: An Introduction, Armstrong/Koler, p. 71.  Finally,  The Millennial Generation is The 83 million children of the baby boomers, born between 1977 and 2000.Marketing: An Introduction Solutions p. 73. Which is most of the people I go to school with and are young enough to be my children.

Week 3 EOC: Making Money for Good

Target, the Minneapolis retailer, donated the most cash last year as a percentage of its 2003 earnings--$88.8 million, or 2.1%.

In terms of the sheer size of cash donations, Wal-Mart Stores the nation's largest retailer, would be at the top of the list. The Arkansas company gave some $197 million last year in cash ($188 million of it in the U.S. alone).

Myers Squibb, Pfizer and Merck collectively gave away more than $2.6 billion worth of pharmaceuticals last year, according to The Chronicle of Philanthropy.

Week 2 EOC: Boston Consulting Group - Video Games

"Best Buy said some of its stores ran out of their supply of iPads and accessories for them in the first 10 minutes they went on sale." This product would represent a "Cash Cow" on the BCG matrix.

"NPD points out that a large fraction of software sales in the video game industry have shifted into apps for smartphones and tablet computers, and those app sales are not included in the firm's numbers. The group claims that 23% of software sales in 2010 came from app sales for platforms like the iPhone." App sales are up and cutting into video game sales. Many app's are "Cash Cow's " for the companies that invented them and every app sold represents time spent away from a video game to the video game industry. So, app's cost very little

"For now, video game companies like Microsoft and EA aren't saying how much the rise of app games may be hurting them. Indeed, the industry is in such a state of flux that they may not know." eventually, sales of hot consoles like Kinect will be badly hurt as the number of apps available for portable devices grows further

More and more of the video game industry will be putting out "Dogs" and "Question Marks" since their "Star's" and "Cash Cow" are moving over to App's where the grass is greener

Week 1 EOC: Great Customer Service

Great Customer Service:

I got great customer service from Zappos. No lie. I had been looking for a particular pair of shoes and everywhere I checked was sold out. I even checked stores like Nordstrom on-line to no avail. Then I went to Zappos.com and not only did they have the pair of shoes I was looking for, in my size, but I placed my order at almost 6 pm and I received my shoes the next morning before 10 am… on my front door step. Unbelievable!

Week 1 EOC: My Voice

My name James Clark and I attend The Art Institute Las Vegas. My major is Audio Production and I am on track to graduate in fall 2012. Upon graduation my training and knowledge will include analog and digital recording, editing, mixing and mastering as well as the use of multi-channel mixers for live sound and recording reinforcement. Also, I will be fluent with the industry standard Digidesign’s Pro Tools Software for hard drive recording, as well as a variety of electronic equipment and techniques to record, mix, process, manipulate and edit sound. This education coupled with the wealth of experience I have in the industry will better define my ability to produce, create, scrutinize, critique, modify, shape and control the details and sound quality of music and audio sound. I will be well equipped to record, mix, and edit sound, music and videotape for motion pictures, television and radio programs, video, music recordings and live events. I have music composition, production, and arranging experience. I have been playing drums since the age of 5 with 13 years private lessons and experience having been in countless bands ranging from funk and rock to reggae and jazz. I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and stability to the forefront of an industry that is changing, technical and unstable.
